Go to a shop that sells high quality optics. Pick up a $40 Tasco and then a $1500 Swarovski, Zeiss, S&B, etc. See and feel the difference, especially in lower-light conditions in which there is NO comparison.
Look through them. Work the controls. It's no accident that a lot of .50 BMG rifles get Swarovski optics mounted on them. |

I wasnt wanting to buy one. I was just wondering why they were pricy.

I have close to a dozen Leupolds, 1 Kahles and 1 Swarovski, and a handful of other cheap scopes (none of which is mounted on anything). The glass in the Kahles and Swarovski is light years beyond the Leupolds and the cheapies. Look through a scope in low light and it’s easy to see the difference. Good glass is expensive. And worth it, IMO. |
