I have used them before and like them. I switched them out for regular weapons grade lights because I like railed forearms too.

I have three - 2 carbine and 1 rifle-length.  I love them.  I am not a big fan of VFGs or I probably would have the 900 series (and be out even more $$$ ).

I became a fan/devotee of the dedicated Surefire weapon forends via the ones on a few of my 870s.  When I made the transition from SG to rifle for HD, an M500 was an early must-have.  I liked the first one enough to buy two more since.

FWIW, here's a pic of my latest one on my 2005 SEBR:

I had teh 500B its a very bright light but also very heavy. ALso I wanted to have rails so I sold mine. It did serve me well on my patrol rifle for about 4 years. I now have a M900 vertical foregrip light.

I did the same as Glockfan.  I had a 500A on my Colt for 5 years.  Never failed and no complaints, except for the fact that I needed to change the sling when I mounted the light (was not compatible).  I recently sold it and bought a 910 vertical grip light as I went to a railed gun.

500A is a great light, just not the "fashion" at the moment.  Check out the movie SWAT to see a lot of 500 forearms in action!

I have a 500 & a 900.  I like them both equally.  I just bolted a rail though the holes in the bottom half of the forearm to mount the vertical grip & all was good.  The 900 does look better but are pricey.  You can find new ones on ebay for under $500.  I also bought my 500 on ebay around 4 years ago for around $250

I think you will be happy

I have an M500A.  I upgraded it to the 500 Lumen B variant with the help of Brightflashlights.  It kicks ass.

Have a 500A, no complaints, but wanted a rail system.  Got the MI, so had to cut the delta ring off, so it's useless to me now.  My next upper will be a SPR type, so I won't be using it again.  You'll probably be seeing it in the EE before long.
Great product, and it fit my needs at the time.
