The sun = 1894 Lumens

Surefire Beast = 2000 Lumens

Officially the brightest source of light in our solar system!

That's an M6 next to it for reference!

Just use a couple of 12 volt car batteries for the thing.  Get a long cord for it. You might need some oven mitts for the thing.

BTW, that isn't an M6 in the photo posted above.  It's a proto-type HID version of the M6 (The body is a bit longer)

I think if you actually "lit up" a person with that you would probably Burn there shadow into the wall forever....sorta like a Nuke went off!!! either that or just vaporize them!!!
seriously tho...it prolly has some sort of warning label that states exposure to this has been found in the state of california to cause skin cancer!!

the thing I'd be affraid of, is sure fire saying they will only make 85...sell thru them so fast then release more for cheaper! then wheres yer investment going?

So what?  A GE 75 Watt Soft White light bulb puts out 1170 lumens (says so right on the box.)  So this light is like a 150 watt bulb.  That isn't all that bright.  Geeeeez you guys...

Really people, Get Real!2.900 USD for a flashlight!

"The Beast is the most powerful flashlight SureFire has ever produced for civilian sale. Utilizing a xenon-fill high-intensity discharge (HID) arc lamp, it puts out 2000 lumens of blinding white light — 120 times the light output of a typical two D-cell alkaline flashlight. HID lamps are extremely efficient — for an equivalent power input they provide more than twice the lumens of incandescent lamps. An additional benefit: they have no filament to break or burn out so they should never need replacing.

The Beast is constructed from aerospace-grade aluminum with an extremely rugged Military Specification Type III hard-anodized finish. It features a unique rotating switch — push counter-clockwise for momentary-on or twist clockwise for constant-on — and a lock-out tailcap to prevent accidental activation during transportation or storage.

Designed for open-area tactical applications such as border patrol, maritime interdiction, and long-range target identification, The Beast performs under all weather conditions. And it’s brutally tough — so resistant to mechanical shock and vibration that the U.S. military has adapted a version for use on heavy machine guns.

Power is supplied to the Beast by twenty 123 lithium batteries held securely inside four cylindrical chambers machined into the flashlight body. In combination with the highly efficient HID lamp, these energy-dense batteries provide a remarkable runtime of 1½ hours.

Only 85 Beasts are being offered for sale to private citizens. Limited to one per customer and available exclusively through SureFire, each one is serial numbered and comes in its own waterproof, airtight Hardigg Storm Case® along with a letter of authenticity from SureFire founder and CEO John Matthews. "

Ohh! Ahhh! 85 available to civilians! Ohh! Ahha! The special feeling of being of being able to shell out that amount of coin! Im not saying that their product isn't great, But I hope that price includes round trip airfare to the factory & a personal tour by the owner!

I suppose you feel the same way about paying $250 for a Surefire Weapons Mounted Flashlight, when a $15 maglite and $2 roll of duct tape can do the same thing, right?

Nah!I bought my maglight at Walmart for $7.99 & the duct take at the Dollar store!

To those who can afford to shell out $2,900 for a flashlight! thats great, As for me, No! I can't & I wouldn't even If I could afford to!

If  the $250 light won't do It for you by all means shell out the coin for the "Beast" For my purposes I use the E2 Executive in a carrier next to my spare Glock mag.

I have to hand it to Surefire! They are great with the marketing! Only 85 available to Civilians! Ohhh! Ahhha! The Aura of being a exclusive "Civilian" Well @ $2,900 for a flashlight, I guess you could be the 1st on your block with one!

BTW, They still make a great product!
