I think it would look kind of neat with it red on top of the anodizing.

white/safe red/fire like HK does

I like them, but what about possibly putting it inside a box like the ones on HKs?

Or are there legal issues with copying them outright?

Good to see Superior is reacting to consumer demand (and VERY quickly I might add)

Cheers

Is superior thinking of making upper receivers?
Link Posted: 7/27/2005 7:49:52 PM EDT
Uppers are a work in progress and very close to market. I won't say a hard date.. but keep your eyes on the equipment exchange for Superior Flat-tops soon.

Not to put words in anyone's mouths, but YES.

I saw a couple that were brought out to a shoot by Leo and Robert.

Darn, he beat me to the draw.

Looks good but it needs the boxes around them!! Also, any word on the prices of these yet? I'll definately buying one this fall if the price is reasonable.

ETA: Is there any chance of the auto markings either be made like the MP5 auto marking (a bunch of bullets in a row) or the Semi marking with a 30 next to it or is the three on top of each other final? They really do need the boxes at least though

How come no one likes the dots? I think that is what makes the lower stand out as a superior.
Link Posted: 7/27/2005 9:48:43 PM EDT
I like the dots on the lowers that are marked "Safe" and "Fire", just not on the pictogram ones.

I like it!

I would have made it a little larger and raised them above the detents

Your on the right track with what you have, just a little fine tuning is needed now

Would it be on both sides?

I've always dug pictogram style, but the numerical is kind of slick...

How 'bout Roman ?:

Was just fooling around, thought ya' might get a laugh...

Just wanted to post a picture of my midlength build on my Superior lower, complete with Crayolization...

Those pictographic lowers look great! Big thanks to RB Precision and Superior for providing us these fantastic looking lowers.

Link Posted: 7/28/2005 10:51:25 AM EDT
I like that Superior is both doing pictograms and is asking for market feedback.

However, as I've thought about the pictogram issue, I've never been settled on how one would depict full-auto. Obviously, you can't have a pictogram with 30 bullets, and if you have one bullet and the number 30, then what about 20-round magazines? If you show only three bullets for full-auto, it seems to me it would indicate a three-round burst.

There's got to be some other clever way to depict full-auto with a pictogram.

I suppose we could always do an EMPTY box for auto..... I must admit I don't really ge why HK puts the boxes around theirs... Just because someone else does it that way does not mean its the only way. We want your feedback... but Room is limited. The 3 bullets is a compromise between the G3 photos I have seen and space available before the forging contour starts dropping rapidly. The biggest thing to me is that pictograms lowers are " multi lingual" and ready for export to a foreign land.

I'd remove the dots, but I really like the pictograms that were chosen.
Link Posted: 7/28/2005 11:32:30 AM EDT
I happen to like it!

I'm also very pleased with my Superior Arms lower that I purchased from RBPRECISION.

Robert - When the flat top uppers are ready I'll take one along with a matching lower!

four bullets in a row? the way HK does it is like 6 bullets in a row. i like the HK416 auto marking with the bullet and the 30 next to it though...

Mr. Williams, is there any word on the price or if there's going to be boxes around the bullets?
Link Posted: 7/28/2005 12:49:39 PM EDT

No. 1. lose the dots, then put the bullets in boxes like HK does. So far I like their design better than anything I have seen and apparently I am not alone. This is a picture stollen from LarryG36 and the pictograms were done by Tom Sawyer Mfg. I only mention that because I do not want to be accused of using without giving credit where credit is due.

the crayola thing doesn't work in AZ... Set gun in sun during summer and it just drains out...

Anyone who wants to do the bullet's in these new lowers... Its so easy. A heat gun or even a hair dryer to heat the lower up enough to melt the crayon inside the stamping, and a rag to wipe off the excess. Done. These new markings on the Superior lowers will be nice.

I know, I know, its just cosmetics, but still!

Why the hell would anyone want to use Crayon????

Can you say "Paint"???

The open ended box with just a single bullet shows full automatic to me, whereas a closed box shows semiautomatic fire.

I would like the boxes and no dots, but either way I'm apt to getting at least one.

yakrat101

I also liked the Roman idea though.

Thanks Big-Bore, nice pic, where can I get one of those rear sights? I am leaning towards the 30 and boxes, no dots.
Robert

I'll bet ya a lower that if you do that, you'll get more interest

I also would LOVE on of those HK BUIS's...I hope they start releasing them to the public or some other company starts making them if the HK416 fails...
Link Posted: 7/28/2005 8:42:10 PM EDT
Ok here is my thought.
Have to lose the dots. The boxes have been done so no dupes.
The X through the bullet for safe is cool.
Then for Semi auto have two bullets slightly spaced in a row.
For full auto have five or more nose to tail in a row.
Link Posted: 7/28/2005 11:28:10 PM EDT
no dots with the boxes.

but im damn sure if you dont have the boxes they will still sell
