I doubt that the SS is Std US Mil. issue. Some SS scopes have been used in special situations (like on the M14 type rifle). FWIW, I have the rear focus SS10x42 on my m21 and it has been superb.

From SWFA's Optic Forum :
"We were hit with a military order of 178 of the SS10 rear parallax models that depleted our inventory. All other models are in stock. We should have more rear parallax 10's around the third week of march. I would advise getting on backorder so you will be assured a scope when more come on. " |

The 10x40M was the only military issued verison.
