Suitable, yes IMO.

But 16" barrels with carbine  handguards look funny IMO..

made by Citadel...heard various opinions as to how good they are..not chrome lined if that matters to you

I'd look for a barrel with the fsb pinned on already

Or a front sight base with a setscrew modification.

I would put flats in the barrel so the set screws land against something solid.
A dremel with carbide cutter bit cuts them like butter.
Just a FSB with set screws alone isnt secure enough IMO.
Say its for a 9mm or .22lr.. or a dissapator with seperate gas block... you might get away with no barrel mods.

Just buy a Bushmaster Superlight barrel from here.

Last one towards the bottom.

It is plenty secure. I did loctite the screws, and I wouldn't put the fsb in a vise to crank on the flashider, but it's plenty secure. Mine:

Ummm, $215 with a non-retro FSB vs. $115 and a few bucks having my 'proper' FSB mounted...Is there sumpin' I'm overlooking here?

What is your proper FSB and what will it cost to get it mounted (I guess you mean to have it and the barrel drilled for taper pins)?

well, if you send the barrel and your fsb to ADCO for this service, it will be $90 plus shipping..then add that the Bushy is chrome lined and of a known very good quality and how much are you really saving??

I have a Bushmaster superlight on my XM177E2-forgery and am EXTREMELY well pleased with the accuracy it provideth.  Your mileage may vary.  But, I doubt it.
