Has anyone tried using sten mags and a Socom block with a .40 Oly?  It seems they would fit and function fine.

I have a 10mm Oly, and I've noticed a few 10mm rounds will fit and function perfectly in a sten mag with zero modification.  Of course, that internal ridge in the back of the mag does not allow many to be loaded before the longer 10mm round jams things up.

So, what I'm wondering... how about removing the ridge that holds the mag together (or so it looks to me) and welding the mag together where it meets in the back?  I do not know how difficult is is to remove (haven't tried yet), but I'm sure a 10mm would fit fine then.

I'm sure the mag would still function fine in a Sten and be legal... any thoughts?

Thanks!

Scot

Easier said then done.  Milling that ridge off is the only option, but part of it is under the second layer of steel on the top.

It should work fine as is in a 40 Smith & Wesson Oly upper.  It'll fit 357 Sig fine also...
