We try to keep at least 5" of barrel out in front of the gas port for reliability with the full range of available ammo.
The further under 5" you get, the barrels can sometimes get finicky about what ammo it likes. Your gas port is going to be considerably bigger than 0.070" with a 10.25" barrel. The picture below shows a carbine-located gas port with dimensions to a 10.5" muzzle and an 11.5" muzzle.

What is that one on the bottom? Is the barrel stainless? That's exactly what I've been looking for. |

Is the barrel stainless? They are all the same barrel, the top is to see how it would look with a forged sight, then with a YHM flip up sight. The bottom pic is the same 10.25 Stainless H barrel with Colt handguards on it. Phantom FH. I now have Bushmaster buffer parts and tube, and cut my bolt carrier. I'm just waiting on lower receiver engravings to move forward with the completion of my build. |
