I've heard the same thing. I wouldn't let that be the determinate in buying a rifle though.

I wouldn't turn down a Stag for a good price anyday.

here is my stag 2TL, took it this morning...you can decide for yourself
with stag you get the samson rail ($200) and lifetime warranty. stag = one good buy |

My stag lower is kinda matte, like was said above. Matches up perfectly with the Noveske upper that sits on it.

they're exactly the same matt black mil-spec parkerized finish. they look identical when next to each other
