Between Stag Arms 2T and Smith & Wesson M&P 15, which one would you guys recomend as far as build quality and reliablity?

Flip a coin. This can be discussed for pages and pages. Both are very quality rifles neither with any measurable advantages.

I have noticed that the MP's have a different finish on them then my Stag. I prefer the finish on the Stag, but others may prefer the finish on the MP. I saw two of them next to each other at the last gunshow and the MP seemed a bit more shiny.

I had the same choice to make, I ended up with the Stag 2T and haven't looked back ever since

Though, I will say that both are fine weapons, just a personal preference.

The one you find for the best price, trigger or any other item that sets it apart. These two are both worthy of ownership. I suspect you wouldn't be disappointed with either.

I own a Stag and my Brother has the M&P15. We both have the same amount of rounds down range. It can be argued that the bolt assembly on the M&P15 is better. Also, like someone else posted earlier, the M&P15 has more shine.

With that said, both my brother and I agree that both rifles are basically identical, even the trigger pull.

My advice, pick the one whose logo you like more.

Same price and same configuration........
Stag. I have had nothing but success with them and you hardly ever hear anything negative about their rifles.

I would say stag, although it doesn't have as many ticks in the chart as some others I have always been super impressed with stag, there qc seems very good, they are easy to deal with and their rifles run very well. Nothing wrong with M&P at all, stag even made their earlier rifles in their entirety; I just prefer stag.

I own a stag and it has been great. I added all Magpul furniture on it and now looks like the MP. MOE Stock FDE, Trigger Guard FDE, MIAD Grip FDE, MOE Handguard FDE, PMAGs FDE. I will post up a picture once I get a new one now that it is finished. So what I am trying to say be cool and get the stag.

I think they are both quality sticks. I owned a Stag and it ran great. You asked about the 2T model, I like the Samson rails on them. I also like the S&W and I think they are making fine weapons. Flip a coin or wait to see which one you get a better deal on.  Either will make a fine shooter.

If it came down to both offering the same features I wanted at the same price I'd go with the S&W. It should always be worth more down the road if you ever have to sell it. If you're keeping the rifle, it's pretty much a draw. I'm building on a S&W lower and it's beautiful.

Also I believe the S&W has the milspec receiver extension and Stag may not. Along with the point that S&W scores better in "the chart".

I have a stag and love it, I even got my neighbor into AR's and with him being a lefty he could buy his left handed stag with confidance . I believe my brd is kicking in and wont hesitate to pick up another.

I looked at both and bought the Stag 2T because it was $300 less at my dealer.  Both are good quality.  I love my Stag and it has maybe 2k rounds downrange and zero problems.  Also seems to eat Wolf with no problems.

Stag also uses a mil-spec buffer tube.

I have a stag and an m&p. I love them both. I think that the Smith has a better finish though. Other than that they shoot about the same. Both are great.

When i was shopping around for my first black rifle the local gun shop had a 2T, an M&P 15, and a Bushy. I went with the 2T mainly because of the reviews they had gotten on here and it was a good deal cheaper. The lifetime warranty is a nice selling point too. I love my 2T but im sure the M&P is a fine weapon too.

If I had to pick it would be S&W. Stag is great as well.

Stag! No question. The M&P is nice as well, but I would absolutely go Stag.

I have a M&P, its awesome...Most of the parts for both Stag and S&W are manufactured by the same people so its virtually the same rifle...I'd buy the cheaper of the two.

Stag.  Boring logo, but a great rifle for the price.  I have never looked back. :-)

I have a M&P15 and a complete stag lower that will be a DMR knock off when complete.
Functionally its a coin toss.
Having said that, I've always thought the stag roll mark was a bit hokey and I like the finish better on the S&W.

and well, its a S&W...
