Okay, so this isn't quite something you'd mount on your AR but it is something you'd use alongside an AR. The outdoor range that I shoot at doesn't offer spotting scopes, and 5.56 holes on paper targets at 50 yards are quite difficult to see with the naked eye. Obviously, any riflescope or binocs can be used in a pinch, but what should one look for in a more dedicated spotting scope? I'm currently looking at refurbished Bushnell sentry that could be had for $70 with tripod and case included.

Go to Armory Forum, Tactical Gear. There is a link to a spotting scope comparison, good info.....

The ability to gather light. More magnification can't make up for a small objective. If you are in for the long run...a Kowa is a good scope.
