I just got and ran my Spike's conversion kit, and realized that the front viton o-ring was gone. A group of us arfcommers tried to find it to no avail. I thought I saw a thread here, somewhere,  that there was a mcmaster-carr part # to order with to get quite a few of these. I searched and searched to no avail.

I've also got a message sent to Tom as well. One way or another I hope to get some replacements.

Thanks,

Mike

Apparently mcmaster-carr doesn't  carry them, will have to order from spike's.

Hopefully these won't fail often.

Maybe you could find the right size at the local hardware store?

Hopefully Spikes will fix you up. I don't know what size viton o-ring you need but you might try smallparts.com for odds and ends.

Ouch, $11.20 shipping for a $3 o-ring.

I think I will call first thing, that's ridiculous.

I wonder if Spikes will just post the size of the o-ring.  I also lost mine the other day.  I thought I liked the o-ring, but it sucks if I have to pay a bunch to replace it.

$3 a pair from Spike's. More like $1.50 per o-ring.

Got an o-ring coming in the mail.  I will need to see what elseI can use from Spike's to try and offset the shipping costs...

An option for first class mail for orings and eclips would be nice. I hope this replacement will last.

If you get a size email me we have Roger Zatkoff a seals and o-rings manufacturer just down the street.  Maybe I can order some for you.

Just take a digital caliper and measure  the groove (ID for o-ring),,,  the width of the groove (diameter of ring material),,  and the OD of the chamber insert where the groove is cut (OD of the o-ring).... rest is elementary.. nothing special about sizing o-rings.

Lowes has rings as low as $1.27/10 (#60 for adding to .223/5.56 extractor).

Good luck with that, please post pics of the melted O-Ring you got at Lowes, Tractor Supply where ever.

The only extraction enhancement that is considered an equal to the Crane O Ring, and is available to the general public is the D-Fender.  Its now even included in the extraction ehancement kit instead of the Crane O ring.

Like I said, let us all know how melted plastic inserted into your BCG works out for you

The o-rings are made custom for us, from Viton. We could not find an off the shelf o-ring that fit the way we wanted it to.

thanks, that explains that. I thought viton was a material not a mfg––I use viton rings for scuba tank orings with a tank with oxygen higher than 21%...

Will order some extras when I can order some other things to offset shipping costs.....

Well, it is good advice if your trying to enhance the extraction on your 556 carbine!
