They told me they were expectiing a shipment of .223 in the next week or so.  They are selling a mix of military surplus from US, Belguim, and Portugal.  Anybody ordered from them before and know if the stuff is any good.  It's $105/1000 rounds.

I've never seen them with ammo in stock.  It always says it is going to be restocked in like two weeks.

About a month ago I ordered 1,000 7.62x51 rounds for $109 plus like $27 shipping.

At the same time I ordered 1,000 5.56x45 rounds which were backordered for $105 plus approx. $17 shipping.

I received the 7.62 4 days later and it was awesome.  Approx. 2/3rds was Israeli while the other 1/3 was Winchester.  I did have a few Italian and FN but very few (10-20 rounds of each).  Super nice ammo for blasting.  Ran 140 rounds through my dept's M14 and not a single problem.  Received a total of 1,004 rounds

I received the 5.56 last week (after about two weeks).  I had approx. 800 Israeli while the rest was Winchester.  I again had a few oddballs from FN and one round of .223 R-P (Remington).  Received a total of 1,001 rounds.

I'd say for the money, if you want some military surplus for blasting and have some patience, put it on backorder and get a surprise from UPS a couple of weeks later.

dpmmn has more experience with them as this was my first order after giving in to his recommendation.  He can probably give you some better time-frames.

I have used both the .223 and the .308 and love them both.  The only problem I have is keeping it around because it works so well out of my rifles I tend to shoot it up pretty quick.  About a month ago my son was in town and we fired all 1K rounds of .223 I had on hand.  No ammo related problems at all.  I have run across a few bad rounds when inspecting them, but it is well worth the money.  IMHO, buy as much as you can afford.

They were back ordered on .223 for months on end, so when they finally had some in July I ordered 7000 rds to play with so I don't have to blast the good stuff.  I had the ammo in 1 week and it is mostly Tzz (Israeli military) dated in the 90's, with a few USGI rounds from the 70's.  Looks super clean (been through a tumbler, I suspect) and for the price, I am happy with it.  A few weeks after I got mine, the were out of stock, once again.

At that price point, you've got Wolf, Barnual or this mixed IMI.  Since I prefer brass cased ammo, that's what I went for.

When/if they get more, I will probably order more.  (I'm set for life in .308, so I haven't tried any of Southern Ammo .308).

Shot up about 50 rds of the .223 today from Southern Ammo.  It all went bang and shot about 3 ~ 4 inch groups out of my shortie AR at 100 yards.  I'm satisfied ..... and not to bad for mixed ammo.

I got 4k of 5.56 and 1k of 7.62.  The 5.56 is 90% Israeli (TZZ) headstamped, mostly mid to late 90s and some early 00 in the Case I checked through.

7.62 is mainly Isreali again, 70s headstamps.

How are the .223s packed? Are they packed and shipped in dry ammo cans or paper carton boxes? Thanks.

Boxes, they no longer ship in ammo cans due to cost.

I order all of my range ammo from them, both .223 and .308

Good stuff

Do they charge your card and then wait till they have it in stock to ship or do they charge your card when the product ships?

I live only 6 miles from them.  Every time I've been by there they never have any in stock.

I have them hit my check card right away, that way I dont forget about ordering it and then get a $400.00 hit on my checkbook a couple weeks later
