Hey there,

I'm new here.  Just had a question about my AR15: What's the deal with the tiny spring in the pistol grip?  I bought an aftermarket grip today to better suit my rather largish paws and noticed a tiny spring in it?  I saw it in a few exploded views, but didn't see a label.  What's its purpose?

Thanks.

it's the spring that pushes pressure on a detent that is for your safety switch.  it's extremely important to have that spring in there, other wise your safety switch will be able to fall out and it will be wobbly.

Bingo.

You NEED the spring and the little metal piece that goes on top of it (The detent)
