I have a better camera than I did when I first built it. I also took some pics of the markings.

Anvil Arms A2 lower with laser engraving. I now know the differences from A1 to A2, and I even offered to get him a NoDak lower for it, but this one is special to him as is.

From the sticky FAQ, I date the upper assy as from 1967. It had a birdcage on it when I bought it, but he remembered having the three prong (he also remembered no forward assist once I gave it to him).

Very nice! Is that a 1-12 twist barrel? If so, best use 55gr or less ammo.

Very nice indeed!Who did the engraving??

Since 55gr is the most common loading there is, it's easy for him to remember.

Anvil Arms did the engraving. It was free with purchase back then, he charges a nominal fee now.

Nice rifle. I love threads like this. I just got an Anvil engraved PWA Mk18 lower from uxb, love it.

The A2 means a lot to him because of the trouble you went through.
Replacing it wouldn't mean the same.
The rifle is nice, the circumstances are great!
You're a great son in law!

I hope I have one like you someday...but not too soon.
My little girl only turns 3 Friday.

Check out my thread on slick-side (604) M16s in the US Navy:

I had hoped to add a pic of Bubba with his issue rifle to that Navy 604 thread, but the sole pic they have is like welded into the frame and the scanner just takes pic of the reflection from the glass.

Now that I am home again, I remembered that I could have taken a picture of the picture with my camera. Maybe next year, sigh.
