I am wanting to change up the appearance of my 20" A2 rifle, but don't know what direction to go.  Show me what you have done to your  A2 rifles to give it a bit of a face lift.

This is as far as the modifications have went, and will go for me.

I've since taken off the scope, and this is how it sits now

When I get bored, I'll throw the scope back on

My new Pony MT6700

New to AR's, does the removeable carry handle make this a A3? I know the stock is all A2???

My A2 has had  a few different scopes on it but now it has the Colt 4x20 scope so thought it was appropriate to have on my A2.
I will keep it this way from now on.

In fact, it makes it an A4.

A3 is not an applicable label for civilian rifles –– an M16A3 is simply an M16A2 with slightly different internals (full auto trigger pack instead of 3-round burst). The M16A4 is the one with the removable carry handle.

Not an A2, but an A4. Some call them A3's because the civilian designation for a flat top receiver is A3. The military designation for a flat top 20" rifle is A4 hence M16A4, while their designation for a full auto M16A2 is A3, or M16A3.

Actually would be A4. You can do nice things with the MT6700. This is mine with a Colt A2 Government profile 1/7 barrel and F marked front sight base installed=M16A4 clone.

I like them simple. When the eyes go I will probably add a 4x20 to them.

Got the colt scope too. Just took it out this weekend. It was nice nailing water filed milk jugs at 100 yards.

Nothing matches. Everything's piecemeal. Aside from the barrel, gas tube and BCG, nothing's original. Started life as an Oly post-ban half-profile HBAR. I love this rifle.

My Colt Match Target HBAR MT6601 with USGI Colt M16A2 upper half, the only things I changed on it was that I replaced the A2 grip with a DuckBill grip without the finger grooves to fit my hand better and an Israeli IDF two point sling.

I like to keep my A2 as simple as possible.
