I have two Colt style 9mm cabines and both use Hahn blocks. They function perfectly w/ Colt and converted Uzi mags. I also have an Uzi and about 50 unmodified magazines for it, half flat back 32rd and half 25rd w/ seam. I've been thinking of getting the Hy-tech just so I can use the uzi mags in my AR's.

My main concern is will I have any fitment problems with the Hy-tech. I've read the sticky, but it seems like most of the posts are pretty old. Does anyone have experience with the newer production blocks?

I also have a top loading Hahn block originally on my RRA A4 16" CAR and no problems with a couple of Colt mags that I have.

I'm currently waiting to get more of the new C Products stainless 9mm mags but since they're delayed I went ahead and got a VM Hy-Tech mag block so I could use my IMI Uzi, generic Mec-Gar Uzi and other off brand mags.

The Hy-Tech mag blocks fits fine on my RRA 9mm marked lower no problem same as my original Hahn block.

The only slight problem with the Hy-Tech is they don't fit some of my off brand Uzi mags that have large radius corners of the mag catch holes.

I have to file the mag catch holes and make the corners into sharp corners and then they work fine.

My 2 month old VM-Hytech block needed about 15 minutes with a file to allow all my Uzi mags (except a cheap Argentinian 40 rounder) to work.
Just lightly file the rear of the block until the mags slide in easily, it only takes a few thousandths of an inch to do the job.
It was worth it to me.

That's all I use, no fuss, no muss....  I've had Uzi since 1988, so why do I need to worry about  bells & whistles of CLOT operating system ?

PLUG-N-PLAY !!

The main thing I'm concerned with is the magazines fitting in the block. Before I got the Hahn blocks I tried three different ASA blocks and none of them would consistantly accept magazines. The magazines, Colt and modified Uzi, would bind in the ASA blocks about 50% of the time, even after I did some filing. The Hahn blocks readily accept all magazines.

I'm just worried I'm going to have the same binding problem with the Hy-tech block, especially after reading the tacked thread.

A few minutes with a file and you don't have to worry about binding.
I've seen more people screw up the magazine conversion cuts for the Colt system than I have filing out a VM block.

I got mine from Brownells about a year ago and it worked fine with no modification to the block or my mags. It is in a Stag lower. I may be just lucky?

I had one of the early models..did the mods to it. It was fine, but when I sold the 9mm setup the block went with it. I have built 2 more since then......went with the top loading Hahn block. I don't have an Uzi anymore.

My point is since I have no Uzi or Uzi mags...the Hahn block is number one for me.

It seems like it adds some unneeded bulk and weight......just my $0.02

Thanks for all of the responses Is Brownell's the only place that sells the VM block?

Brownells has them in stock @ 149.95
VM TECH is making a run of them now, they will be availible in 2 weeks.
They said it is the same price as Brownells.
I just bit the bullet and ordered the adaptor from Brownells.

Get it and don't look back . . . especially if you have that many Uzi mags already.

I love mine and would recommend it to anyone.

I do have a couple of mags that won't work with mine but only a couple.

i bought one a few months ago, uzi mags are cheap, and i use it on my SBR that i switch between .223 and 9mm, so i needed quick change mag block.   BUT i had to gring a line down that back of my mags for them to work well, and they don't release fast, so you can't do quick mag changes.   But i like everything else about it.

That is exactly the rifle i want to build. What sights are those? I want to go for the MP-5 sight look, and that TROS barrel.

This is the route I took. Made it simple as I have an UZI with plenty of unmodified mags.

I did a little hand filing so that all my IMI 25 & 32 rounders would work in the VM Hy-Tech.
