Okay guys i recently built a bcm 16, and I'm slightly confused here. I only have irons ATM and I sighted it in at 50 (yards), but Iv seen meters as well can some on explain, why or what's better. Also on a side note at 50 yards and bipod no optic yet, I hit 4 that was a quarter size group  and I pulled last 2. Was wondering if that was good for 50 and if I should accept that and leave it alone I hit dead center of the target . I'm also on the Mobil version so excuse lack of spelling and punctuation and all info is appreciated ty and first built btw

Quarter-sized group at 50 is not bad at all. Now work on trigger and breathing, so you don't pull any shots and they all go into that quarter-sized group.

Then move out to 100 yards. Learning to shoot with irons seems to be something people don't do so much any more. It's a good thing to know.

Quarter inch groups aren't bad at all at 50. Any subtle movement and can cause your groups to shift. If you're consistently grouped tight but a little over one way or the other you can adjust otherwise leave it alone and call it good.  Move out to 100 yards with the same ammo and see what you're doing. I use yards instead of meters. I was never in the military and all the ranges I go to have targets set out in yardage.

Same here. And more to the point, most of the ranges I shoot at are laid out in yards.

army sez 3 shots in the circel at 25 meters is good to 300 meters

aim point sez aim at the top dot group in the bottom at 50 you are good

Print them up and focus on breathing and squeezing the trigger  imagine the front site post as the point of impact

it is tour choice at the tip, or dot the i,pick what you like but don't change it up do t the same every time.

Holy crap, everyone is Daniel Boone on this site.  Was it with M193 too?   I shouldn't kid, maybe you are that good.

A 50 yard zero is a good zero.   Will put you close to dead nuts at 200, depending on load and barrel length.  Etc.  You have to confirm.   But a lot of guys on here use a 50 yard zero.  Including me.

LOL.  Touche.  But if you don't post pics, it never happened.  And I'll be honest I'm skeptical.  But if you are shooting that well, you've got nothing to worry about.  Now if you're saying you did that offhand.  Well.......  I'll leave it to the imagination.

Under most circumstances we all have room for improvement. With that said, you're doing well. Good iron sights are great and can be deadly accurate. Shot with a deputy friend of mine days ago. One of the ARs I brought was my Windham Weaponry solid stock, 20" barrel model. He's never fired an AR with a solid stock or even an AR with irons only. After a while I handed it to him. He fired a few here and there, bore down on the 50 meter target and double tapped. I'd say a 95% (perhaps better) overlay of one round over the other. He was having a great time with the WW. He has 4-5 differently configured ARs plus the one in his cop truck. Needless to say, he's getting a basic, no frills AR.

It comes down to what you are looking for , battlefield accuracy or precision accuracy at desired distance.
