I just got done with my first home built AR. Should I go to the range and fire it myself the first time or have a gunsmith do it in a test chamber or something? I built it from a RRA lower and a JT upper kit. The upper kit had bee nfired before i got it,jt tested it since I could smell the powder. Everything functions ok,handle goes back, bolt locks, hammer falls when trigger is pulled, safety works, etc. I just don't want to get half my face blown off.

The JT upper was already headspace checked, and you got a new bolt assembly. Go shoot, and follow the barrel break-in procedure's.[8D]

Is there somewhere on the web to find the procedure for their kit? THanks

I always hear that a chrome lined barrel don't need a breakin.(if yours is chrome lined) All mine have chrome lined barrels and never went thru the breakin. Just went out and shot them.
