I am going to be buying the a SS barrel, and like the bead/sand blasted look better than the shiny.  Is there a way to approximate/simulate this with some steel wool?  Or will it come out looking crappy?

i dont think your gonna get the look you want that way ..heck glass beading is so simple -if you took down your assembly and took the barrel to a good machine shop or somthing of that nature i bet you'd only pay 10 bucks for the job....just a thought..

RRA SS barrels come glass beaded.

The model1sales SS wilsons are not really that great so I wouldn't reccomend buying them at all (they are shiny polished too).
