I just ordered one of the 20" Shilen Barrels from Brownells. Wylde 223. I am building an upper for bench rest long distant shooting. I am not there yet in terms of shooting skills but I figured it was something to grow into.

Here is my debate... I have a 30 Cal YHM Phantom Suppressor. I mount it on most of my 223 and 30 cal guns. I am debating if its worth getting the Shilen threaded.

Here are some thoughts:
1. Already broke budget with upper.
2. Will I be taking a risk letting someone man-handle my barrel?
3. Is it just added weight to end of barrel that won't aid in accuracy?
4. Or will reduced recoil of suppressor help with accuracy?

So, what would you do? And where would you get it threaded? ADCO? YHM? (Anyone have experience with either?). I don't think I trust my local gunsmith. Besides, the places around here cost $125 and take weeks if not months.

I would get it threaded.  And, I would go with a company like ADCO.  I wouldn't worry about the weight; it is a bench rest rifle anyway.  I would think the suppressor wouldn't effect accuracy except the environmental factors like jerking the trigger and/or anticipation of recoil.
