Looking for information on the LMT A2 buttstock. Product number LMP291A. http://www.lmtstore.com/buttstocks/lmp291a.html My main questions are is it a full kit or just the shell, buttplate, and trapdoor? How is the fit and finish? And is the trapdoor metal? If these are GTG im ready to buy.

That link is for the stock only minus the buffer tube, buffer, and buffer spring.

Do they sell a complete kit? If so im not seeing it on the website. Also are all rifle reciever extensions created equal or are their differences like the carbine ones.?

Rifle receiver extensions are standardized. They are A1 length, so don't forget the spacer you'll need for the A2 stock.

I have a full armalite kit already on my gun. The shell and trapdoor seem kind of cheap. Just wanted to make sure my tube buffer etc wasent also going to be sub par or made from a lesser metal.

They are all the same size, but I don't know the specific manufacturing materials/processes for each company.

That A2 stock won't be much different then the one you have.
Most A2 shells are cheap compared to all the new Magpul and such stocks.
They are not designed to be all that solid. The tube does the work.

You might be better off with a PRS or I like to use old Colt surplus A1 stocks.
They say the A1's are not as strong but I think they feel a lot more solid.

If you are concerned about the trapdoor, you can replace that part with a metal one.

What A2 stocks have you been handling? The ones I've and owned were as solid as any reasonable person could expect. Any more "solid" and you would have to make it out of steel or concrete. I've had plenty of Vltor, Magpul, etc. stocks to compare against and IMO, if strength is your #1 criteria, Don't ever pick any collapsible stock (Magpul or other) over a Mil-Spec A2 stock. The idea of replacing an A2 stock with an A1 for strength made me While I greatly prefer the A1's for their overall length, I would never replace an A2 with an A1 for "strength"

So back to one of my original questions.... is the LMT trapdoor metal?

I don't know about the LMT stock, but DPMS (yes, DPMS) makes an excellent A2 stock with a metal trapdoor.

Not intrested in DPMS. Thanks though.

FYI, the A2 stock and butt plate are 2 parts that pretty much everybody buys from the same source. This is not a part that these companies make in house or special order to their own specs. A "DPMS" A2 stock is going to be the same as the "RRA" which is going as Colt, LMT and yes, in all likelihood, the same as the “Armalite” A2 stock you already have.

Did you buy this rifle new with the stock? I’m wondering if you actually have a real A2 stock or if you have a CavArms or other aftermarket fixed stock?

Either way, if you want to know more about the LMT, you could have called or e-mailed them. Had you done that when you posted this, you would probably have already received your answer by now.
