If I change the barrel ONLY on my AR15, do I need the headspace adjusted?
I know that this is the case with Bolt Guns - but really don't know about Ar's?

Sorry for the stupid question,

thanks,

You shouldn't have any problems with head space if your using a decent quality bolt and barrel...

You dont have to start off with "stupid question" on this site, people here will not jump on you just because you dont have all the infinite wisdom that they do, which seems to be the case on other boards.

However, most all pros check the headspace as a matter of procedure. The failure rate is very small, but still possible.  Checking the headspace is an easy task if you have the gauge.  You can even check it before you swap barrels. with the loose bolt and loose barrel with extension mounted.

Can one get by with just one headspace gauge? (A "field" gauge?)
