What ever you do, Do not order it from here.

10 rounds for $19.95, you might be able to find a better price out there.

I have 1800 of the radway green and have shot about 400 in 4 different rifles with 0 problems so far. Mine is 92 headstamped and came on stripper clips and in bandoliers. Good stuff.

The BEST SS109 loaded bullet into the M855 round is IMI.

Second would be LC M855 first line ammo. Made by Winchester or ATK at the LC plant.

Third would be Winchester M855.
All the rest are range ammo.

I bought some of the 855 in the battle pack on stripper clips that about sold out. It looked pretty good had military seals on the cans and crates. It shot really well and looks pretty good. Has a few dings here and there.

I HAVE ALL THREE!

WIN M855 was the hotest and was not as accurate out of MY AR`S So yes ranked 3rd.

IMI M855    ( 1 bando 5 pocket left )
  vs
Lake City

I would be happy with anyone of the two!

MOST accurate SS109 Bullet FOR MY AR`S  is SANTA BARBRA TO DATE with no soft brass issues.

Most consistant (accurate) (including Lot to Lot variation) I have found to be:-

Hirtenburger, followed by Radway Green then IMI and Lake City.

Interesting that it follows the pattern of :- least production to most production......

Im going to try the RAD WAY out sometime! The rad way I seen at my local range all had Flat primmers? Not that I want that type?

I bet that SS109 bullet is well made?

Fmj,

Sorry, should have picked up your flat primer reference from the other thread!

There were some lots that were sent out with apparently very flush primers, they still worked well and were within limts / specs.

I still have some, if I get the chance I will try and post a picture for you to compare with the stuff you have seen for sale!

You get the odd off centre penetrator tip, which effects accuracy, in all M855 / SS109 bullets. that's why the US MIL SR Teams use M193 in competition (gits)

You aren't kidding about that Santa Barbra. I bought probably 400 to 500 rounds at a show some years ago. I didn't think much of it since I had never heard of it. I pulled out a box after I bought my two AR's last month and couldn't believe how accurate it was.
This is a 10 shot group in my Varminter.

S&B is on the left. WWB (made in Israel) on the right.

The answer you want :-

It's not slow, 3100fps like M855, and designed for a 5.56mm chamber.

One reason for the flats; If they were using it in a rifle with a .223 match chamber (tighter space) then the pressure would be raised and the primers could get flattened.

Didn't you see....that is for Armor Piercing .223. Must be the Double-Secret Delta Force SS-109 .223.
