Are they usually 308 or 223 .I read a artical and it sounded if spr rifles are based on sr25 308.

There are only 5.56x45 caliber Special Purpose Rifles at this point, built on Colt M16A1 lower receivers.

I always wondered why they didn't try and use 6x45mm. Maybe they did, and I don't know.

I mean, you could use the same magazines with the same capacity, and 90% the same weapon.

Any thoughts?
