The rifle sight adjustment set at 1 and centered, should get you on paper @ 100 yds.

Now, to set the sight, screw the  elevation knob so the sight is all the way down till it stops, then bring it up to 1.

To center, line up the centering marks with the other knob.

Also start with your front sight post "base", level with the top of the front sight assembly.

Once your zero is printing, you can tweak it by moving the front sight up or down slightly, this procedure is for 100 yd  zeroing only.

Remember elevation changes for yard line and windage for  "the day", the combination of the two usually refered to as "dope".

Windage usually isn't an big issue until 2-300 yds.

Now moving to a farther  yard line, just move the knob to 2 for 200, 3 for 300 etc...

and tweaking windage as you go.

This is standard USMC procedure,  for an issue M16a2 w/22" bbl.

I don't know which is more sad the original post or the "tag".

A simple search would have saved him having to ask.

Yes, I'm a Mod what about it?

Is it too much too answer questions?

I'd rather promote the shooting sports with helpful advice, one to a non-paying (may eventually become a member) AR owner seeking advice, and another a paying member.

You could've answered now twice easily with a link to the  information or a simple explanation.

In my opinion Mods should be helpful, not condescending like this.

If I'm wrong, ban me, I rather not be here then.

I don't know anything about certain usmc procedure's, but don't you mean a 20" barrel?

When did they start making M16A2s with 22" barrels? You getting confused with the M14 maybe?

Edit - Beat me by less than a minute lol.
