I've got a V22 upper made by CZ Strakonice (not CZUB/CZ-USA), but it's been pretty disappointing.  It's accurate enough, but it's never been very reliable.

I've been thinking about building another .22 upper.  Kuehl sells barrels for $210, and I think I can still get on the list for delivery later this year.  Kuehl's new breech design doesn't require you to modify the receiver plate of the Ciener kit, either.

I'd like to build my own upper (rather than buy a complete Kuehl upper) because I've accumulated a lot of AR parts I could use since I started hanging out here.  I've got an upper receiver and a one-piece carbon fiber free float tube lying around.

Has anyone else assembled their own rimfire upper?

I haven't, but I have swapped uppers (A2 to a flat top).  Same as building a standard AR, only you don't have to worry about the gas tube.

At $455, the Kuehl M4 upper half isn't a bad deal, IMO, when you add the value of the barrel assembly (including front sight and handguard assemblies), Upper, Ciener kit, and charging handle (not to mention assembly by Kuehl Precision Firearms).

If I pay $210 for the stripped barrel and $130 for the Ciener kit and $15 for a charging handle, that's $355.  IMO it's worth $100 to have Kuehl put it together.

I have a KKF barrel ordered, will be building an upper once I get it.

Pasted from Kuehl price page:
(Dedicated upper assembly prices below do not include the modified Ceiner/Atchisson .22 LR conversion kit.)

So add $139 more to the price....

Doh!  You're right.  Looks like it makes more sense to build. (BTW Cieners are cheaper elsewhere.)

You forgot the receiver, flash hider, delta ring assembly & handguards.

Didn't forget.  I have extra parts in the shop (upper, one-piece free-float handguard, A1 flash hider).  I'll use those.  I only listed the parts I'd need but don't already have (out of pocket costs).

BRD is a wonderful thing...
I'll warn you now, don't ever buy a Surefire flashlight or a TC Contender/Encore.
It's the same problem...

An extra tailcap turns into a flashlight or an extra barrel turns into another whole contender.

Too late  I've got a Surefire M3, E2O, E1E, and KL1 LED head, and E-to-C adapter, an ARC LSH-P, ARC AA and several ARC AAAs and more in the same shop and an HDS Systems EDC Ultimate 60 GT in my pocket...
