I've been beating on the DD Lite rails for the past 4+ months, and have seen no problems. While not cheap, its a great rail, and it does everything I need. There is a huge selection of rails available, and the DD lite is only one of them. I carry a DD Lite rail on my duty weapon(s) based off weight, over all quality, and its ability to take abuse. My weapons routinely get used for giving classes, get hot, get dunked in solvent tanks, as well as the typical wear and tear that any hard use duty weapon sees. After 4 months of use and training, my DD 7.0 Lite rail doesn't look all that pretty anymore, but thats not much of a worry to me.

Thanks! I've tried a bunch of rails, and am always open to new things. The attachment system is different, it is light, so I am working up a build for one.
There is some talk in that thread about the collar being "free to spin", but it seems to me that once the gas tube has been inserted, it ain't gonna spin:  The question of the bolts backing out would be a different story... |

The collar doesn't spin when tightened down due to the pressure from all sides. It won't spin with or without the gas tube in place. Mcgrubbs used to be the Larue spokesman and release all their new products to AR15.com in his threads. |

I spent a lot of time at the MM site years ago, before I used ARFCOM. I learned a ton from the site. I still go there from time to time. |

As a matter-of-fact, he was the first to step around a jeering ARFCOM crowd of trolls/shills and point out the obvious quality of our kit. And yes, he has posted pics for me as I haven't a clue as to what it takes to post pics and neither do I care to figure it out. Besides, I have my hands full with the few fake screen-names, trolls, and other internet skill-names folks seem to be more schooled-up on than I. So, thanks for bringing Monty up. I owe him a very large public thank you. So Monty, thanks a trillion and there's more to come and your feedback has been and will continue to be appreciated. I have LaRue 9.0 and 12.0 handguards. I love them to death. I also have the LaRue rear BUIS, Aimpoint mount, SPR mount, and TWO low-profile gas blocks.
Now that I have self-identified myself as a fan of LaRue products, I also declare myself free to ask about and purchase products made from any other manufacturer that catches my eye; when I do so, I do not wish to be dismissed as a partisan whore, nor as a hating troll. If I'm so satisfied with my LaRue handguards, why would I cast covert glances at one made by another firm? Because I'm curious. Because I'm perverse. Because I'm fickle. Because I'm a perfectionist when it comes to AR's. Because the product is different. But whatever the reason, let us discuss the gear like the scientists we are, and renounce the whore/hater paradigm. Amen. Now, go and Do the Right Thing. |

I'm in Sacramento. No on 87!
I went down to Newport Beach to take a class for work a while back...great place, but WAY OUT of my price league (I saw teenagers driving Lexus's)...if I'd a known you were in SoCal, I would've stopped in and we could talk guns! Another drive down I-5 though and I'll go bat farting insane. |

When the steel nut is tightened down on the DD lite rail, the colar will still freely spin. Well maybe not freely but you can move it to align the gas tube. This is a nice feature so you can tighten down the barrel nut to the exact ft lbs you wish for. The problem with the standard barrel nut or some of the order systems is that you have to sometimes over torque the barrel nut to get to the next gas tube hole.
Once the allen head screws are all screwed in, it will be absolutely rock solid without any play. |

Not if you have some of my barrel nut indexing shims. You torque the nut to the torque you want, look at the alignment, take the nut back off, add shims and re-torque. You will be able to get proper alignment MUCH closer to the torque that you desire. Barrel Nut Index Shim Instructions |

I have a LaRue hat and I did not even ask for it. Also got several armadillo bottle openers. Probably has to do with ordering several handguards at a time.
