Has anyone had success in removing the muzzle brake on a post ban Armalite in order to install a free float handguard? Or is the best option to cut it off behind the brake and do without. Unless I am missing something, one of these approaches is the only to free float a barrel, as there appears to be no way to remove the gas block without doing one or the other. Can the pin be drilled and tapped and then pulled after applying heat to loosen the solder or is it welded? If I get it removed, I will replace it with a new one, properly installed if not the muzzle will have the threads cut off and recrowned.
