I currently have a DD upper with the above. Im wanting to replace the rails with a set of MOE carbine handguards.

What is required?  Is it terribly difficult or is it a gunsmith job?

Its currently for sale, but igf its an easier thing to do, ill just keep it as the upper is accurate and reliable.

The Omega X uses a DD nut.  To use the MOE you need a standard nut and Delta assembly.  In order to make the swap you have to remove the barrel,  the flash hider and the FSB.   Then you have to swap the DD nut to a regular nut and Delta assembly, reinstall the barrel, FSB/hand guard cap and flash hider.

Honestly it would probly be easier AND better $ wise just to sell your upper and buy an upper the way you want.
