I remember seeing an ad in a gun magazine a few months ago and i have looked back through the ones my wife hasnt threw out yet and cant find the ad. The ad was for a red dot sight that will still have a black crosshair even if the batteries are dead. Seemed like a really good idea.

Just get an Aimpoint and change the battery every year or two, problem solved

Trijicon Reflex or ACOG. They use Tritium and solar/ambient light to illuminate. The Trijicon Tri-Power uses Tritium, solar/ambient and batteries, hence the name...

Kinda useless with the battery life of an Aimpoint but I guess it would be a nice feature.

Considering current versions have 50,000 hour battery life, why bother? (that's 5.7 years!)
