my uncle wants a scope for his R-15. he wants decent clarity, something in the upper magnification range (6-20ish or slightly lower) and for around $200. i told him that will limit him to some Chinese crap, but he's hard headed. so what's out there? oh and he wants a fine reticle.

I dunno....maybe a Redfield for that price range might work for you....

Check swfa for some of the discounted vortex vipers. I love my 2-7 and have read nothing but good about them. I think there are a few 6-20 models somewhere around $270 or so.

I take it being a R-15 it is for hunting and target shooting....for $200 or less...I would suggest the Bushnell Banner...6x18x50, price is around 125 to 130, it is a long scope but effective...and it's a Bushnell...this one will need extra high rings or mount.....

If he doesn't need target turrets, the Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20X is a little over $100 at Midway. It is a way better scope than the price suggests (it was about $280 in last year's catalog). It has been around for years, and I have yet to hear a negative review on it.
