I'm building a new 10/22.  16" threaded bull barrel, laminate stock, power customer hammer/sear.  Can anyone recommend a decent scope for less than $100?  All shooting will be done at between 25-100 yards.

Spend a few dollars more on a Mueller APV scope. I found one on Ebay NIB for $129.00 a while back. You won't be sorry.

Years back I bought a Simmons 44Mag 3-9x40 scope for my 10/22.

Took it to the range and the constant fierce recoil of 22 long rifles caused the reticle to crumble.
No shit. Shit is shit.

Check your local Wal marts, they had Nikon Prostaffs 2-7x32 for $99

Center Point from walmart they have a 4x16 or a 3x9 very good for the money and held up on my LR308. Had one on my sons 22 and it was really fun watching the feathers fly off crows at 100 yards.

I put a cheapo Simmons 22 Mag scope on one of mine and it's never let me down.  Matter of fact I only bought it to get me by the day I bought the rifle and I haven't had a need to replace it with an expensive one.

Spend $140 and buy this Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40. Killer scope for the money. I have one for my 6.8 SPC and when I get my 10/22, I'm gonna "demote" the Prostaff to it's new home on the 10/22.

I got the Simmons 22 Mag 3-9 scope with adjustable objective for my Remington .22, and it works fine.

Here's one place to get it.

I second the Nikon. Don't scrimp. Personally I would search for a used Weaver anything. I'm a sucker for old Weavers. My only scopes right no are classic Weavers - they're tough as nails and you can get one pretty cheap on Ebay.

Ditto on a Weaver for a few bucks more than $100.  I have a 1-3 on a 10/22 and it is great for plinking or hunting. i.e. fun.  You might run out of magnification beyond 50 yds but a 22 won't shoot flat enough to be useful for much beyond 50yds.  IIRC, mine is on at 50, 1" low at 25 and 4" low at 100 with mini-mags.
