I was all excited to go to the range today to practice bench shooting 100 yard 10 shot groups and when I get there there are about 10 people doing action drills on the long range (need to try that). I had to move to a 50 yard area and stack some 6x6 post for a rest. I also had to deal with the setting sun right in my face. Not the most ideal conditions, but I did get some practice in. I messed around with my PSA SS 1/7 middy at 50 and 25 yards but the setting sun and red dot did not play well together. The cheap truglo red dot still was holding zero and the couple 10 shot groups held to about 2.5 inches.

I then took out the MP 1/8 melonite sport and shot 4, 5 shot groups at 50yards with hornady 55gr training and also 4 with the AE 50gr varmint tipped. Was just trying to get warm and check sights.
The groups were decent but I was still not comfortable with my rest. I made some rest adjustments and filled the 10 round mag with the Hornady 55gr and sent them down range. It was a decent group still not sure if the rifle likes the Hornady as much as the AE. I will compare more when I can get out to 100 yards.

I then sent two 10 round groups down range of the AE with about 5 minutes of cool down between each group. The first group wasn't as good as i wanted at 50 yards, but the second group was much better.

I still need more practice but I am very pleased with the results at this point. I may just stay at the 50yard line until I can keep the 10 shot groups under an inch consistently.

Critique and pointers are always welcomed!

Looks good.  And looks like a lot of fun.  how about pics of the gun??!!!!

That last group of varmint tip looks real good.  .75 at 50 yards of 10 rounds is really pretty darn good in my book.   And the other ones aren't so bad either.

I will be trying the quarter MOA challenge next trip although I think I will make it a 50yard distance first. I am not sure if my rifle with factory ammo is capable do it at 100, or myself either as of right now. I may need to put the 4x12 glass on it also.

What range are you shooting at? I'm assuming CF stands for central Florida.

Sonny,
A friend of mine has a range/training center in Clermont area. They offer all kinds of training, mostly group stuff. The head trainer will do privates and small groups also.

That's good info, I'm not far from Clermont at all. I didn't know there was a range out there.

It is private. It will open up to memberships sometime next year. Right now it is just used for training LE, Concealed classes, security, and some private training. I am lucky enough to be able to use the place as I need.

Yeah I tried finding it online with no luck. Hopefully when it goes to membership I can check it out. We need a good outdoor range in lake county. I'm in Leesburg.
