They have good prices on DPMS .308's. The website has the same prices and talks about multi week lead times. If I wanted a .308 by the fall hunting season, assuming tha they did not charge the credit card until it shipped, would that be a good place to order?

I live about 30 miles from there store.  I have bought a bunch of things from them.
1. They are not friendly but who cares
2. There store looks like a bomb went off but who cares they do a ton of mail order.
3. If they have it in stock I would say get it.

I was told they had no lowers in stock so I drove up there anyway just to see the store.  Well they had 1 lower in stock DPMS and I bought it so I really don't know what to believe.  Email them they are quick to email you back but very short with the answers. Best of luck to ya.

you're probably right DPMS is 80,000 .308s back ordered.
They said they are shipping 2,000 per week
Thats 40 weeks/ 10 months

Glad I picked up my LR TAC-20 a year ago.....

And one of the major "problems" is that they habitually charge the credit card before they have the item in stock.  If they don't have it in stock, I'd say stay away.

I've ordered from them a couple times.  They are dicks, but sometimes they have a price too good to pass up.

There like that Bohica outfit in Kalif. If not in stock, forget it.

They'll ship when they get it. My card has never been charged until they ship. I've been waiting on another one of the cheapo $350.00 DPMS uppers for about 9-10 weeks now.

If you want top notch service look no farther than PK Firearms, I simply know of no better mail order company. If it's on there site they have it in stock and you'll not find faster shipping. Also they have some of the best prices around.

+1 on PK Firearms.

Companies that sponsor ARFCOM are accountable for customer service.  Sure, something gets messed up here and there, but 99%+ of the time there's never an issue.

Is R-guns an ARFCOM sponsor?  What about Bohica?

I had issues with both R-guns and Bohica (which might have been a completely different company) back when the 94 AWB was pending.

Personally I wouldn't risk buying from them unless they confirmed in writing that product was in stock, ready to ship, and that your card wouldn't be charged until the product was in the hands of the carrier.

Depending on the "new" terms and conditions your credit card issuer sends you every other week  (usually in like 1-point font), remember that there's a finite window of time to dispute a credit card charge.

Policies differ, but I've had banks tell me the time to dispute a charge is calculated from the day the card is charged by the merchant.  If the merchant charges now but doesn't ship for X months, it's possible you might not be able to dispute the charge even if the product never ships.

Before buying from anybody who charges before shipping, I'd learn precisely how long that dispute window is open for your credit card.  I'd trust a sponsor that doesn't accept back-orders, or if they do, doesn't charge until the product ships.
