That's strange. I was just looking at that yesterday. Not sure about the handguard but I usually don't use vertical grips so I think I'd actually like it. The rest of the rifle seems to have everything I want. I have an RRA Tactical Entry now that has been 100% so I might go for another.

Check the industry forum. I ordered one in February and gave up on them in July. Last I checked they still weren't shipping. I ordered a Noveske and got it in 10 days. Maybe you should check out the Noveske N4 basic. Same price, better rifle, IMO.
