Hi, I am new to this site and really enjoy the articles. I have just received my RRA 20" Varmint and wonder if anyone can recommend what loads I should try to start off with (what works for you?). I currently use an Encore pistol in .223 for varmints but I use light bullets (40 grn.) and I hear that is not good for stability in the 1 in 8 twist. Loads or factory load info would be very helpful. Thanks.

Some people have managed to hold the 40s together in a 1:8 twist while some haven't had such luck. If you've already got them, you might try them and see if they'll hold together for you. Besides, 40 grain bullets will blow all over the place at longer distances if you've got even a light wind so if they are holding together just use them for shorter distances. But 50grains and heavier should do alright in the 1:8 twist. Sounds like you've already got a line on what varmint bullets are if you're using them in an Encore. Vmaxes and Sierra BlitzKings leave quite a mess...
