Ok all I'm sponsoring a RETRO M16/AR15 and CAR15/Shorty pic contest.

There will be 2 categories:

1. Regular 20" AR15/M16
2. CAR-15/Shorty

The pic will include your rifle, in a retro setting( Ideas....steel pot, ammo cans, sand bags, leaning against a UH-1H or laying on the edge of a rice patty... etc..etc.....).

Also they must be in black and white for that real retro look.

I just want your rifle and equipment, do not include yourself in the photo.

The prize for the winner in each category in a Colt Chrome 601/602 bolt (you choose p or MP marked).

DOCMIKE Will be the judge, so no emails telling me how good I look

It will last until 30 July 07, so everyone has time to make some awesome photos.

Good luck

I guess this is what I get for winning the last photo contest....just kidding. FREEFALLE7 and I both liked the idea of the continuing the photo contests so we decided to work together on this one. May I also add that we'd like to see "AR15.com" or "Retro" discreetly written on a piece of paper and visible in the photo just so we know that it isn't a "real deal" vintage photo. I know there are quite a few of us with nice military equipment collections, let's see some of them.

What's with the black and white photo only being retro? There are a lot of color photos from the Vietnam era out there. Hard to see ERDL or Tiger Stripe clothing or original green furniture in B&W.

I'll post something tomorrow when my real 601 upper gets here

ETA: And maybe if I'm REALLY lucky, I'll be able to post some pics of my XM177E2 too. ATF cashed my check a few days ago.

No problem. Family first!

Awesome. I'll be bringing my XM177E2. I'm on the lookout for an M16 BCG right now. Of course it'll be on a black A2 lower But I'll put the A1 grip and 2 pos stock on Nothing you havent seen, though. And BTW, I think I'm gonna pass on that kit because I wanna get that upper from you this fall and I dunno if I could if I got that kit.

My entry on the 20" rifle section. Made it faded and B&W with IrfanView And added in the Chinese SKS and Hungarian AMD63 w/ Tula bakelite mag in there just for kicks

No match for a pic like uxb's but eh, thought I'd participate anyway

ETA: Got it that time. Imageshack was resizing it to 640x480 when I was trying to get it to resize to 1024x768 so I had to use Photobucket.

What will the photos be judged on? Photo quality? Content? Theme?

Yep. But, I think it will be weighted toward theme.

Really, I wouldn't call it dorky at all, I'd call it creative and artsy........ just the kind of thing that makes this kind of photo contest fun. Let's keep 'em coming.

Villafuego - that mag in the 2nd pic is awesome. That's one of the rare experimental mags right? I can't remember if they were 40 or 50 rndrs. Can't imagine what you paid for it.  Those waffle mags w/carrier aren't too bad either!

Not to steal his post or anything, but they were 50 rounds and he got it on Ebay with a few other mags for around (I believe) $100.

Yes, I hate him too. Especially for those waffle mags
