I have a Registered SBR RRA lower that has a 9mm hammer installed.  Currently, I only use this rig in 9mm, but I'm contemplating a dedicated .22 upper that will have a short barrel (maybe 5 inches).  The idea, is to mount a large volume suppressor whicjh will give it the SD look of a 9mm, but shoot inexpensive .22 rounds.

A few questions:

1) Do any of the dedicated .22 uppers have the ability to use std AR handguards?  I want to put a YHM tube on it so the suppressor will seat down into it.

2) Will any of the .22 uppers work with a 9mm hammer installed in the lower?  Are there arny other changes to the lower required like weak springs, etc.?

3) Is there some sort of mag block, or are the mags such that they have the mag block built into them?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but these 3 are the first three I could think of.

Well, I'll try to help.  I have 2 uppers (a Kurts Kustom Firearms and a DPMS), so my answers are based off of my experiences.

1)  Both of my uppers use standard AR handguards.

2)  I can't comment on the 9mm hammer, as I haven't tried that.

3)  The Ciener Kit and DPMS kit both have the mag block built in, I.E. they lock in place and eject using the standard mag release.  You don't need to use a mag block like you do with some of the 9mm systems.  The  M261 kit uses AR-15 30 round mags as a "host body" to hold the .22 mag.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Brad!

How about you others out there....  Which .22 upper do you have and what do you like/dislike about them?

OK....  I just found out that the CZ V-22 is not made by the same CZ that makes/imports the CZ-75.

And I was getting ready to buy one just based on the CZ reputation.
