Your FFL will fax a copy of his license to the seller. Some sellers will want to have the FFL in hand before you make the order (re: AIM). Always best to call ahead and make sure of their rules.

well i went in to the gun shop and asked the owner about transferring a stripped lower reciever and whether or not I had to fill out any paperwork before and he just said contact the seller and have it sent here.....Is there anything else I should do? I tried to talk about it more with him to make sure and he was kinda a jackass. The only reason I am using this tool is because there are no closer FFL dealers.

No paperwork needed. Shipper ships to your dealer, you go fill out the 4473 form and take it home.  if you need a receipt, get it from the seller.

There's only one FFL dealer where I live so I know what you are talking about.
Here in NC the seller will ship it to the FFL dealer that you tell him to.  The seller can be from any state
and does not have to use a FFL to send it to a FFL in NC.  An FFL dealer in NC can accept a firearm from any one.
It does not have to have your name on the outside of the package.  The FFL dealer I use likes
to have a photocopy of the sellers drivers license, ask the seller to put this in the package.
You may want him to put *Attention triggerhappy123* whatever your name
on the outside of the box or at least a note inside saying that it is for you.  The FFL should call you when he gets it.
You will go to him and fill out a 4473 and pay whatever transfer fee he charges $15.00 to $35.00
He will hand the receiver to you and out the door you go.  Have the seller send you a receipt.

I would look for another one if he is acting like that.  There may be one closer than you think.

The important thing to find out is how much he will charge.  Some folks want $50 or more to transfer.  That is crazy. I generally pay $10-20.

ok thank you very much...........I can't stand that douche anyways. I went in to buy a glock one time and he told me since I looked young and it was my first handgun that I should buy a hi-point. I have been around tons and tons of guns since I was 12 so I pretty much walked out the door. He sells a shit ton if high point stuff so I guess he gets some type of special discount.

Uh, yeah, and before he has a package coming.  If you were an FFL would you want people's guns randomly showing up at your shop?  Also people do things different ways –– some places might have you do the 4473 first, because there's no point in sending the gun if you fail the background check.

Well, he's a busy guy, and he's right. You're trying to complicate a simple process. The package is sent to the FFL of your choice with his name and address on it, not yours. Inside there could be a piece of paper with your name on it, or 'Attn: what'shisface' (you) on the outside of the box under the FFL's name and address. He gets the gun, calls you, you run over with two IDs showing your current address, you fill out the forms, he makes the call, you get delayed...wait, no, you get approved, you pay him whatever he asks, you take the gun home.
