I'm just curious if mounting a scope on top on top of the handle affects accuracy at all if properly sighted? I ask because I read elsewhere that handle mounted scopes are too high from the bore axis, and there are accuracy problems. But that was just one guys opinion.

I don't mean ACOGs though, they are fairly tight to the handle, I mean scopes on top of mounts which mount to handles (a little higher up). Does anyone know for sure how accuracy may be affected by an optic mounted this way?

Generally the closer your optic is to the bore of the barrel, the closer the POA with match the POI at all distances. Another problem of the handle mount is the check weld since the optic is so high.

Thanks for the info.

I think I'll go with a flattop for optics instead.
