I am looking for an ACOG for a 20" barreled AR and of course have heard alot about the TA31, but I am hoping there is another version out there for less $$$ that is suitable to the 20" barrreled gun. Any ideas?

TA01, they can be had for between $400 and $600 (no BAC unfortunately, although I find this feature a bit over-rated from experience, it is nice for CQB but for a 20" I find it to be overkill, my opinion of course)...check ebay etc. ***edit - I am by no means an ACOG expert***

[shock] IMO, for at least a couple years, BAC was the most underrated feature! I think it deserves all the praise it can get! With ACOGs, one thing you have no shortage of is options. There are literally dozens of models to choose from. You say you have a 20", is it a flat top or carry handle upper? What would you like the AOCG to do most for you, increase your speed or accuracy? A little of both? What are the max ranges you would be shooting? Do you shoot at longer or shorter distances most frequently? Answering these will start narrwoing down your choices.

TA11, it's my choice [:)] It's not less money though.

lol new arguy a TA11 is close enough [:)] This rifle is now wearing an SN4, the TA11 went to another rifle similarly set up but with a heavy barrel. BTW, I'm no ACOG expert either, just a happy ACOG user [:d]

New-arguy, you bring up good questions......it is a flat top 20"gun,,,I doubt I will shoot at any target over 200 yards. I want both accuracy and speed, if I can have it. I think I prefer the triangle reticle. I have a TA01NSN, but thought it was designed for a 14.5" to 16" barreled rifle?

Check out the Compact ACOGs. They are a little smaller, lighter, and don't have the BDC, but if you're only going to be shooting at 200 yds, you wont miss it. They come in 1.5, 2, and 3x magnification, and they do have a triangle reticle available. They're less expensive than their big brothers, but they have many of the same great features. Keep an eye on the EE; once in a while they show up at a good price. Steve.

Duffy, can you please take a PCH pic looking through the SN4 and post it in the "Views" thread? I've never seen through one before. How do you like it compared to the Acogs? THX
