On a Bushmaster M4 witha Phantom, can you mount a bayonet? I may just be totally off but isn't a bayonet lug on a 14.5" M4 with 1.5" Phantom superfluous?

Yes you can.  Just as long as it's a 22mm (dia) Flash Suppressor.  In other words a screw on not a press on or pre-ban BS flash suppressor.  The phantom is a 22mm so it's just fine.  The bayo just passes right over it and locks.

Of course it's superfluous...I'd rather shoot than stab anyday...shoot, reload, repeat.
