I want a quick detach mount with a throw lever for a bipod. How does the LaRue unit compare to the ARMS #32 mount?

Been around much??

I'm betting that the hands down answer from just about everybody here is - LaRue.

They are turning out some very high quality products lately and I doubt the QD bipod mount will be any different.

Not necessarily, Mr. Mongo...

From my experience, I like the ARMS mount better.  It's not as tall as the LaRue and it removes the obtrusive thumbwheel from the bi-pod.  The only bad thing IMO is that the throw lever can be a PITA to open on some of them.

I have an ARMS also, and that thing is tight, to the point of "cussing every time I try to take it off" tight, so I know what you mean.  I see the LaRue products out there and they are good.  Not good enough for me to wholesale change out everything I have right now for them, though.  Things like my DD FF tubes, my LMT BUIS, my ARMS scope rings and bipod mount and probably a few other things.

The ARMS mount is lower, but it can only mount on a picatinny rail. The ARMS mount actually becomes part of the bipod, when installed.Where the LaRue mount allows the bipod to be removed and mounted on a rifle w/o a picatinny rail(bonus for me).

i have the larue on order since thats the only one that can be found right now but i do like the arms since it seems lower and is integral with the bipod.

it would depend on what you're using it for and your needs, both would work well

For me, the Harris bipod is easilly detatched already. I want to see the low profile YHM mount. It seems to be low profile, light and not in need of Q.D. If this is the case, This is what I will prefer, though not Q.D.

Why Q.D. to a Q.D. Somewhere, something should be without question.

i have had two rifles with the yhm mount and to me it would be the same height as the larue, when the larue comes in i will compare the two but im sure they are about the same.

I know Zak Smith won't use the LaRue because it sits to high. I'm sure he'll be along shortly to give us the scoop..........

What's the point of a QD bipod mount? So you can do quick tactical bipod changes????

to remove the bipod when not needed so that the rifle wont be nose heavy when shooting offhand

and when its not needed.

+1 altav

I really like LaRue Products but in this case I think ARMS has the better solution.   The ARMS mount does not sit as high and it does away with the thumbwheel screw.

+1

I have three ARMS bipod mounts.  The Larue is too high, and I'd rather have the bipod and mount be one integral unit.  Why would I need to remove the bipod from the mount?  I just keep a spare Harris for use on hunting rifles without rails.

That's a trick question, right?   Doesn't EVERYONE do tactical bipod changes?  No...?

I ended up buying the LaRue mount and have used it to swap between a varmint gun, A4, and a dissapator. It is very handy to have the QD feature and I am pleased with the product. I know the ARMS mount allows the bipod to sit closer to the rail, but that feature doesn't bother me.

Here's a pic of the ARMS 32 mount.  As the others have mentioned here, I like the low height of the ARMS mount.  I do not care for the obtrusive thumb wheel.  I do not mind the tighter throw lever.  I prefer the integral look of the ARMS mount unioned with my Harris BR.

I'll post a pic later, but I recently found that the best mount incorporates the best of both: ARMS #32 mount with the new LaRue 17 upgrade.  Yes it's an expensive package, but I really hate those ARMS throw levers...

I only have the ARMS mount, but I don't have any problems with it.  I know that LaRue has better quality, but I don't think it's necessary in this case.

Are the ARMS lever tension adjustable?
