I've used UMC, WOLF etc. I just picked up a case of Q3131A what's so special about this stuff? It all goes BANG in the end. After all the bad stuff you hear about Win. brass what's so hot about this stuff?

Seriously, Q3131A is Mil-Spec ammo. It is loaded hotter and is more suitable for self-defence. UMC and Wolf are suitable for plinking. |

It provides lower flash burns from post-bans compared to Fed LC, which means lower amounts of unburned powder in rifles and carbines exspecially, and is all around some of the best ammo for the price. However, for plicking at the range, I am sure you will do fine with just about anything. Some of us are just a little more paranoid about what ammo we choose to use. John |

I just got back from sighting-in my ACOG and found that the 6 year-old Q3131A I had gave substantially better groups than fresh '02 Fed. XM193, '01 IMI M193 and even some other '98ish Lake City stuff.
3131A, IMO, is the [i]one to have[/i]. Sniffin' a little too much cheese there in Wis-con-sine? [fart] |

There was no Q3131A 6 years ago. The first Q3131A appeared in late '98. There WAS Q3131, which was really Lake City-made M193, headstamped and packaged for Winchester.
