I just ordered an RRA 20" Stainless barreled upper from ADCO, and am having it contoured to gov't specs and chopped to 18".  I plan to drop this on my mid 1980's vintage Colt lower.

I have heard about Colt using larger pins than other mfgs.  Which pins are larger, and who sells an adaptor-type device?

I-O,

If you front pin is visually larger looking then your rear pin, you have a large hole receiver/upper.  If both the front nad back pins are the same size, you should be OK, as far as I know.  Bushmaster sells an adaptor.
