I've been having problems with double and triple () feeds in my 9mm AR.

I have the brass fountain issue with my two Colt 9mm magazines.

Whenever I bang the magazines and, the few times I've dropped them, I've seen at least 6-8 rounds pop out of the top.

Someone suggested that I bend the feed lips slightly inward.

I want to know how I should proceed.

I have three C-Products magazines on order and, they are supposed to have fixed this issue.

I have plans to suppress this gun with a YHM Wraith QD but, I don't want to do anything to it until I get it running 100%.

The last time I was out, I tried playing with the amount of ammo I loaded in each magazine.

I usually load them all the way up to 32 rounds but, I tried 20 in each with the last 40 rounds I had and I didn't have an issue.

This makes me think it's a big time magazine problem.

Please advise...

Thanks,
HK_03

You have a magazine spring problem.....they are weak.  Colt mags can fountain when dropped but shouldn't when in the rifle.  Don't tweak the lips, guesstimating what form they should be would most likely produce scrap.  C Products says that their mags work flawlessly with the Hahn adapters and won't fountain.....they should be released at any moment.  CMMG makes a great upper and you should be running smooth once your mag situation is taken care of.

A weak spring will have a loose follower when empty.  You will also notice how the last round or two don't seat right up against the feed lips firmly.

Change your springs for Wolff springs to get your Colt mags going.  You can also stretch them out but they will soon relax.

Up for more opinions...

CMMG told me to wait for the C-Products magazines to ship before doing anything.

I have three ordered...

Are you talking about the Hahn magwell conversion block?

I built a RRA 9mm (before they offered it as a factory gun) and initially got everything from them except the block, they were on backorder for 6-8 months and I was impaitent. I looked around and found the Hahn.

I built the gun and had nothing but problems, just like you describe. I numbered my mags, tried diffrent ammo, etc.. I did everything I could think of and had eliminated all other possibilities. I ended up getting a RRA magwell conversion block and have never had a problem since.

I know I have read on this site where others have had good experiences with their product, but this was just my personal experience. Hope that you get your problem solved , whatever it may be.

The Hahn top block is the one in question.

I can try another block but, in the worst case, I can sell the upper and mags and just make it a 5.56 SBR instead of a 9mm.

That's the last thing I'd like to deal with (Selling an upper, magazines, inner parts, etc.)

I'll try and shake down CMMG tomorrow, it's their upper but I'm sure it doesn't pertain to that. They might be able to help me though...
