I'm starting to look into buying a preban, and it seems that the majority of them are Colts. Could someone explain the different pin sizes and the sear blocks to me? Basically I just want to make sure that if I get one, I'm getting a lower that I can use with other non-Colt uppers. Thanks!

This explains the difference between large hole and small hole uppers-about 3/4 of the way down the page Biggerhammer link You can use any small hole upper on a large hole Colt lower with a simple, inexpensive adapter. It's a non-issue. The sear block isn't a big deal either. If you intend to convert your Colt to full auto with a registered sear you will have to spend an extra $25 to have the sear block removed-otherwise it's a non-issue. It won't prevent you from using any different types of uppers.
