I just got a pre-ban  AR-15 (Colt Sporter 7.62x39) and would like to know more about it.

Is the caliber unusual for a COlt AR-15?

Where/How can I do a serial number lookup?

Welcome!!!

Not too odd.  I've got 2 of them.  Go to [url]www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/ar15serial.html[/url] and check your S/N.    Anymore Q'S???

Edited to add that the USA brand Frankenmags work well in the 7.62x39 AR.  They are JUNK for anything else.   Be prepared for sticker shock if and when you find some for sale....
