I was looking through my ACOG today TA01 NSN and noticed a reflection off to the right unless I'm very close to it

I have not had a chance to shoot it yet to see if that is a problem also

Has anyone else experienced this or should I send it in?

It is 2 months old and stays in a hard case with a scopecoat on it

Mine does the same thing if I back off the eyepiece.

I haven't noticed it before, I installed the docter optic on the top today and then I noticed it
I imagine I would have seen it before though....

Sorry it's no problem it’s just your Tritium leaking out...
Any extra hair in the sink?

This is pretty frustrating considering what I spent on the darn thing.

I thought I was purchasing the best thing out there, not to mention I convinced myself I had the money to do so

I'm new to these myself but if you think you have a problem send it back

I got something that tastes like saltwater, open your mouth and say ahhhhh.

ETA- It looks almost like the lenses are out of alignment and are refracting light off the side of the tube or something. Someone will be along soon to tell you they had the same issues.

What you are seeing is perfectly NORMAL and is a function of every ACOG's optical design( roof prysm).

4x32 ACOGs have 1.5" eye relief, you need to bring the ACOG closer to your eyes. I have three of them (TA01NSN, TA31, TA31F), they all show this unless I obtain a proper sight picture. Also the extreme right edge is somewhat blurry, this too is normal.

I think that's normal, my ACOG TA-31 does the same thing. I had a problem with the adjustments and sent it back, they repaired it, and it came back just fine. But yes, you get that little reflection like that.

I know the acog has a 1.5" eye relief but I am fairly certain that when I was further than that distance it just appeared as a smaller and smaller black hole, not the big white gap on the side

Artifex: You still get the reflection after you sent it back to be serviced?

4 people with 6 ACOG's have said their's do the same thing. If that doesn't ease your mind email Trijicon.

These Trijicon scopes use a roof prism to make them very compact. I think you're seeing an optical distortion and probably seeing a little bit of the prizm itself when you back up beyond the focal length the scope is designed for. I can see the same thing through my TA31 when I look through it, but use 4" of eye relief, instead of the recommended 1.5"

I tried three acogs and could not reproduce it except for something like the first picture, but only when I backed up about 5 inches on a TA31.

You might just have a problem there if it has those reflections in the 1.5 to 3 inch zone.
